Radiologists' workload increasingFriday 31st July 2009 Radiologist's workload has increased 34% since the early 90s. That is according to a study in 'Radiology', which also goes on to reveal that there is considerable variation in the number of procedures performed each year by individual radiology practices.Researchers from the American College of Radiology (ACR) compared data from a 2007 survey of radiologists and evaluated the significant data relating to workplace characteristics. The study found that the workload of full time radiologists in 2007 undertook 7% more procedures than radiologists in 2003 and 34% more than those in 1992. The study's authors stated, "Radiologists' workload continued to increase in recent years. Because there is much unexplained variation, averages or medians should not be used as norms. However, such statistics can help practices to understand how they compare with other, similar practices." American College of Radiology (ACR) Feedback Have YOUR say. |
